KASC firmly believes that all\u00a0competitions need to be a healthy and positive experience, with a focus on a child\u2019s Personal Best and effort.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

By competing in Club Time Trials throughout each season (long course and short course), swimmers have the ability earn individual \u2018merit points\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

Merit points are awarded for competing and improving on Personal Best (PB) times (at time trials only).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The merit points system is divided into age groups for Male and Females.<\/span><\/p>\n

Age groups are: 8yrs\/under, 11-12yrs, 13-14yrs, 15-16yrs and Open.<\/span><\/p>\n

(Swimmers age is calculated as at the 30th June for the winter (short course) season and 31st December for summer (long course) season)<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trophy Events<\/strong><\/h3>\n

During the Long Course (summer) swimmers have the ability to compete in a number of \"Trophy Events\". \u00a0The events are:<\/span><\/p>\n

JIM NAYLOR MEMORIAL - 200m BREASTSTROKE - 13yrs & over<\/span><\/p>\n

DEVRYN CONNELL PERPETUAL \u2013 200m BREASTSTROKE \u2013 12yrs &under<\/span><\/p>\n

HARRY HICKS MEMORIAL \u2013 400m BACKSTROKE- 13yrs & over<\/span><\/p>\n

MARGRET JONES PERPETUAL- 200m\u00a0BACKSTROKE\u00a0\u2013 12yrs & under<\/span><\/p>\n

W.O. REED MEMERIAL \u2013 800m FREESTYLE- 13yrs & over<\/span><\/p>\n

LAWRENCE NEWNHAM PERPETUAL- 400m FREESTYLE- 12yrs & under<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Trophy Eligibility:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. \n

    For the Lawrence Newnham Perpetual<\/em>\u00a0individuals\u00a0must\u00a0swim\u00a0all<\/strong>\u00a0100m, 200m, and\u00a0400m freestyle events;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    For the W.O Reed Memorial<\/em>\u00a0individuals\u00a0must\u00a0swim\u00a0all<\/strong> 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m freestyle events;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    For all other trophies, swimmers\u00a0must have competed in the event at least once<\/strong> in the current season;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Swimmers must swim in the Trophy qualifying event.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    NOTE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Trophy finals are swum as handicap events.\u00a0There must be a minimum of 3 swimmers \u00a0competing. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    In the Trophy event Final, if the swimmer beats\u00a0PB time by more than the disqualifying time they\u00a0cannot win.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0The disqualifying times for trophy events are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n
